Well, to nobody's surprise the original fireplace was not in great condition. Luckily we found the world's best fireplace artasan ...look at the close up photo of the firebox he hand made. He slices old vintage 'chicago brick' and lays it in a herringbone pattern. I love the rosy color. Next week the mantel goes up....
